This is a reminder that advising week for Winter Quarter begins on Monday, November 2nd and runs through Friday, November 6th. Advising Week is a crucial component of the registration process, so I want to urge you all to take full advantage of this resource.

This week, faculty advisors will be posting blue sign-up sheets outside their office doors. Please make it a point to stop by at some point during the week of October 26th to sign up for a time to meet with your advisor. You should all have received notification of your advisor, but if for some reason you are still unclear who you have been assigned to, please contact me immediately!

Please be aware that until you meet with your advisor, there is a hold on your registration. This hold will be lifted once you turn in your study plan signed by your advisor. Study plans are due on Friday, November 6.

I encourage you all to take this opportunity to bring any questions and concerns about your coursework and academic career to your advisor. I will also be available during Advising Week to meet, so please see the blue sign-up sheet outside my office in TECH C226 if you would like to set up a time.

Winter Registration officially begins on Monday, November 16.

The Coordinator of Graduate life advises on fulfilling course requirements for the PhD program (and MS degree requirements along the way). Advising works with students to see how transfer/credit waiving will affect degree progression and what the best options are for successful completion of requirements in a timely fashion.

This also involves making sure students apply for and submit all necessary paperwork to obtain degrees when scheduled.

These meetings can be scheduled at any point during the year.
